HUMAN RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE STUDY-TOUR OF ISRAEL/PALESTINE
Please
join us on our important study tour of human rights and social justice in Palestine-Israel. This study tour welcomes students,
faculty and activists. Our Social Justice and Human Rights Tour of Israel and Palestine will take place from November
11-18, 2006. The price of the study-tour includes all the activities on the ground, lodging in Jerusalem, all ground transfers,
two meals a day, all entry fees, sight seeing tours, all meetings, workshops and seminars, cultural and musical events, visits
ti archeological sites. During the study tour we will follow a daily schedule of visits to NGOs, political personalities
and "struggle-sites" of interest. The tour is more or less balanced between Palestinian and Jewish organizations and cooperation
projects on the ground. One of our ground coordinators in the historian Dr. Meir Margalit of the Nobel Peace Prize nominated
ICAHD (Israeli Committee Against Housing Demolitions). (See Dr. Margalit's recently published book: "Discrimination in the
Hearth of the Holy City, published by the International Peace and Cooperation Center) Our counterparts in Israel and
in the Palestinian Authority are leading social justice and human rights organizations. We will meet with the most important
personalities in Israel and Palestine dealing with human rights and the search for peace. We will meet with Parliamentarians,
academics, artists, authors, social workers, grass roots activists, security officials, leaders of dissident movements, and
representatives of Jewish, Muslim and Christian faith-institutions. We will visit projects dealing with peace and
reconciliation, national rights, community development in poverty incidence areas, environmental issues, housing (construction
and demolitions), child development, civil rights, the Justice system, education and basic infrastructure conditions. The
NGOs will explain to us the social and economic conditions of their constituents and take us for a guided tour through their
communities and neighborhoods. On each side of the border, the NGOs will take us to see case studies, field projects, as well
as conduct for us other cultural and touring activities. In addition we will visit religious, archeological and cultural sites
of interest in the territories of Israel and the PA. Should you wish to organize and recruit your own group, we might
be able to offer you a very significant tour-leader discount. Please share this study-tour program with your colleagues.
This is a unique opportunity to learn first hand about this important issue in Israel-Palestine and offer our support to those
working day-to-day to advance peace, justice and democracy in the region. Please don't hesitate to call me or write
again should you require further assistance or clarifications. In Peace and Dialogue Please Contact The Martin Buber Institute For Dialogical Ecology
